Start and Finish Laser Surgeries Faster
Epic X marked the debut of BIOLASE’s patented pre-initiated tip to complement our standard non-initiated tips. What does this mean to you? You and your team can get to work faster without having to manually initiate or re-initiate tips.
Provide Pain Relief Faster
Epic X is cleared for temporary relief of minor pain, including pain associated with TMJ or other thermomandibular disorders. And with patented handpiece attachments to simplify the procedure, it’s a snap to provide pain relief faster.
What Makes the Epic So Exceptional?
The Epic soft tissue diode laser offers a cutting-edge, effective, and gentle approach to a range of dental procedures, including oral soft tissue surgery, periodontal treatment, endodontic disinfection, laser pain therapy, and laser teeth whitening—which can now be completed in just 30 minutes with reduced sensitivity.
The versatility of soft tissue lasers in dentistry is impressive, from treating oral ulcers and gum diseases to removing tongue ties, depigmenting gums, designing smiles, and reducing gummy smiles. Additionally, the laser provides deep, penetrating disinfection of root canals and periodontal pockets. It also seals blood vessels to achieve hemostasis, seals lymphatic vessels to reduce post-surgical swelling, and much more.
Did You Know?
BIOLASE initially had reservations about their original 810nm diode laser. They tasked clinicians with blind evaluations of various wavelengths to determine which performed best in cutting, coagulation, patient comfort, and overall usability. The 940nm wavelength emerged as the top performer, leading to further studies comparing absorption peaks across different wavelengths. These studies confirmed that the 940nm wavelength “cuts” more efficiently at lower power with less heat, thanks to its rapid absorption in Hemoglobin and Oxyhemoglobin, minimizing the risk of thermal damage. See the graph below for details.
“The EPIC 940nm Diode is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-bacterial, haemostatic, and promotes good quality healing. It offers many clinical applications other than just surgery. Every dentist should have one, every day!”

Endodontic Applications?
Recent studies confirm that the 940nm wavelength is also the most effective for endodontic disinfection.
